Daily Meditation 481–6/21/2023
Death Meditations —
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX X XI XII XIII XIV XV XVI XVII XVIII XIX

When we were children, we drank water from the hose like dogs.
Now we worry about unfiltered tap water.

Once we ate hotdogs that fell into the campfire.
Now, they’re organic, vegan, and boiled to avoid oxidation.

There was a day when we just ate the apple with wormholes from the tree, the softening strawberries, and the few days expired milk was just fine in cereal.
Now we consider careful measurement of every ounce of everything we put into ourselves.

Good health brought on by physical wellness is an entire core tenet of Youdaimonia and part of creating happiness as a byproduct of our behaviors, certainly.

But, we mustn’t allow zealousness to also make life unlivable.

Life is lived when we enjoy our moments.

You will very inevitably die one day.

Maybe it’s tomorrow, choking on breakfast.
Maybe in ten years from surprise cancer or a nasty car accident.
Perhaps it’s at 95 with your family all around you.
