Daily Meditation #251–10/31/2022
Death Meditations —
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX X XI XII XIII

Tell those you love often and loudly how you feel. You and them are never long for this world.

One day, you’re a 4 year old obsessed with cats.
One day, you’re a 10 year old who loves LEGO and Star Wars.
One day, you’re a 16 year old, chock full of hormones, sex drive, and angst.
One day, you’re a 21 year old, getting drunk off jungle juice with your friends at someone’s uncle’s camp.
One day, you’re a 27 year old getting a divorce.
One day, you’re a 34 year old in a hospital bed after a surgery, but happy to finally be able to eat.
One day, you’re a 38 year old taking your kids out trick-or-treating. One is Spider-Man and the other is some character from an obscure show which you cannot remember. They laugh with you and you secretly take your parent tax from their loot.
One day, you’re a 54 year old finding out you’re going to become a grandparent.
One day, you’re a 65 year old enjoying a classic “old person” cruise with your spouse of 30+ years.
One day, you’re an 81 year old, weeping uncontrollably as you come home to an empty house for the first time in over 50 years, terrified to go to bed alone to the pillow that still smells of them, now gone.
