Daily Meditation #104–6/6/2022

Everything is worth being grateful for.

When you’re sitting at your desk and suddenly feel too warm, you just take your sweater or coat off.

When you’re thirsty, you go to the sink for a cup of water.

When tired, you close your eyes and drift off to sleep.

Gratitude can be cultivated to be as automatic as this — and should be.
Though it starts with consciousness and awareness, through persistence, we grow our naturalness to be thankful, out loud.

One way is to set an hourly reminder — “What are you grateful for right now?” and to answer the question verbally.
Then make it every other hour, but try to remember to just do it anyway.
Then, try to keep a tally through the day — 25 today, 26 tomorrow, and so on.

Before you know it, gratitude becomes a habit.

The reward of gratitude is in that it becomes a powerful driver in converting how you perceive the world.
When gratitude is automatic — hearing the birds singing in the morning breeze, watching the shadows of clouds crawling across the hills — and you simply say out loud “I’m really grateful for the art in this nature,” then you’ll find your general attitude towards life incrementally improving.
