A simple DM for today.
Writing things down is a powerful and exceptionally potent way of improving your memory and thinking.
This is because — like talking to yourself (here and here!) — writing is a slower and far more linear process than just thinking.
Who among us has ever had a great idea for some joke, a process improvement for work, or even a book. Maybe you’re driving or getting groceries or in the shower…
You tell yourself “OH man, that’s a doozy! I’ll have to do that later.”
There is no “later,” as you either outright forget or, when you sit down to do that thing, you cannot remember what in the hell it was!
Here’s the thing:
If you’ve got an idea (or something you need to just remember to do!) just write it down IMMEDIATELY!
Your haircut on Sept 3 at 6pm.
Your new fantasy novel about pirates.
The new system to help improve stewardship in your downtown.
A fun design idea for a logo for a customer.
Some humorous bit of copy for a business.
The name of that book you enjoyed as a budding teen but just couldn't recall…but just did on the treadmill.
A great name for your band.
The fact you promised the neighbor you’d pop over for piano lessons tomorrow.
