Work and Jobs

Daily Meditation 457–5/28/2023

Waking up, imagine my surprise and instantly simmering anxiety when I see no fewer than 12 text messages, 3 new emails, and a few missed calls.

As a Realtor, these are not usually notifications from friends and family or “Please address this when you’re back in the office on Tuesday.”

Many times, they need within-24-hour massaging.

So, while the interactions with people and ability to serve others — the whole reason I became a Realtor — makes my career the best in the world, the often 24/7 nature of it can be painful at times.

Someone has a panic attack after you fall asleep and you wake up a chain-of-consciousness text thread that’s 20+ messages of ranting.

Someone’s appraiser had a hair up their butt over a 3" patch of chipped paint in the back corner of the basement.

And so on.

We all have our things about our jobs and careers that make us sweat, go grey, and want to just go out into the woods and cuss…

But it’s work.

Not every job will be peachy keen every day of every week.

Not every work environment will be wholly accommodating to you, your mood, your beliefs, your perception of the world, or any given feeling any given day.
And it shouldn’t — we’re there to work.

Sometimes work is, well…work.
And that’s okay.

While no one should stay in a job with an abusive boss or overtly hateful environment, everyone should clock in every day ready to do good work.
