Daily Meditation 762 – 3/30/2024

Driving down a highway here, about 1/3 of billboards are for different weed shops.
Watching a Japanese food channel on YouTube, about 1/3 of the ads are for alcohol. Beer, liquor, seltzers, you name it.
Another 1/3 of those ads are for online betting sites.
Recently visiting my parents in Florida, we counted “Accident? SUE ‘EM!” billboards as we traveled from Orlando to Ormond — approximately 60 miles — and found a minimum of 50–60 lawyer signs.
Spending time on Instagram or Twitter, it feels like 1/3 of “users” you click on have links to their personal “sex picture portfolio” á la OnlyFans.

I have no real judgement directed outwardly, understand, but…
What the hell, people.

In our Daily Meditations, we do our best to “preach” good and reasonable enjoyment in life. For some, that’s hiking. For others, it’s a glass of good wine, a joint, gaming, or watching football.

But, it is a bit alarming that (it appears) about a third of ads these days seem to cater to a society that glorifies addiction and deceit. There is little wrong with a good beer, a joint, sex, gambling or even lawsuits…
