Daily Meditation 888–8/5/2024

Last weekend here in the far north (kidding, really)

What a wild year for weather for us here in the UP.

We had a very mild winter — at most only maybe 6" of snow. Usually I’m used to it nearly to my waist!

Then it was an unbelievably wet spring. Buckets and buckets of rain and hail for weeks on end, right into early summer.

Now it’s summer and it’s been its usual hot and humid UP self! We’ve had multiple days around 90 (32c+).

As a kid, I remember many summers into the 100s, so I’m no stranger to the heat — although, growing up without AC and now having it, boy! Do I appreciate it!

Today — and this week — we are showing a momentary reprieve from the “heatwave.” (Admittedly, 85–90 is super-average for us!) Weather shows cool 70s, sporadic rain, and wonderful breeze.

I see the geese gathering in the ponds and lakes. I’ve seen the monarch butterflies swirling lazily. I’ve seen one flame-red tree and part of my wintersoul leaps for joy at the thought of early autumn and winter after the abysmal one last year…

What is today’s meditation about, though?

Well, it’s about remembering how there are seasons for all things. Yes, the Bible talks about this in Ecclesiastes — “There is a season for all things” — but it’s always a nice reminder.
