The Seagull

An average life is perfect.

A short, simple message today!

We have much to learn from the simple seagull — and today’s message will be far cornier than usual.

How simplistic a gull’s life must be.

They warm up on the dry land in the sun.
They cool off in the lapping waters.
They enjoy their “flocks” but also go off solo as they see fit.
They can be seen eating insects and nuts, as they should, and definitely enjoy indulging it fresh garbage á la stale fries scraped out of your toddler’s carseat.
They’re not so beautiful as the falcon or eagle, but are not as base as the pigeon or robin.
They can’t really sing as well as other birds, but it’s okay — they sure enjoy laughing.

The gull clearly needs very little to enjoy their lives.

In closing — you don’t need to be the best, the most beautiful, or the most popular to lead a “life well lived.” That’s a bit of a lie you’ve been sold. We can have a great life in simplicity — a local beach, a hike in nature, camping, walking a small downtown, or even (occasionally!) indulging in some “garbage” food like a good pizza or fries.
Like the gull, you don’t really have to be the best. But you can certainly strive to be a bit better than the “myself” of yesterday!
