The End is Always Right There

Almond flour. She didn’t have enough almond flour.
My wife was preparing dinner last night. We had keto butter chicken with (keto) naan and she was a cup short on almond flour.
Grabbing my wallet, I shuffled off to Super One, a local supermarket, and grabbed the cheapest bag…which was twice as much as the cost at Walmart! I grumbled, but it was far nearer than the Walmart was, so I bought it.
On the way home, on the opposite side of the road I saw a peculiar sight:
A murder of 5 crows in a circle. Some were standing, the others pacing, but they were all within a very small area — maybe just two meters.
As a bird-nerd, I was excited — was I finally going to witness a “Crow Court?” They were clearly focused on something and circling it with attentiveness.
As I passed, I slowed down as much as I could and despaired at what I saw:
There was a young rabbit, a bit larger than my fist perhaps, flailing on the ground. It was clearly dying. It’s body was broken and crushed and the white tummy stained carmine with fresh blood.
It had been struck by a car crossing the road and had seemingly gotten itself just off the road to die. But, it was dying in agony.
