Daily Meditation 1,072–2/11/2025

Life is thankless. But that’s okay.

You held a door for a stranger? Expect no “thank you.”
You helped someone get the peaches off the top shelf? Expect no “thank you.”
You gave a person a compliment, but they ignored you? Expect no “thank you.”
You provided a team member positive feedback? Expect no “thank you.”
You cooked a delicious meal for some guests? Expect no “thank you.”
You invited a couple people extra to your wedding? Expect no “thank you.”
You sent a reminder you didn’t have to via email before a meeting? Expect no “thank you.”
You gave excellent service at work to a customer? Expect no “thank you.”

Life is thankless. Get over it.

You’re gonna go the extra mile, make the vegetarian option for a friend, hold a door awkwardly long for someone, volunteer on a committee for 3 years, or give asked for advice to someone…
And they’re not gonna thank you.

And here’s a little secret to happiness:

Never expect to be thanked.
