Daily meditation 1,083–2/22/2025

My wife would classify this handsome guy as a member of the “lovely” class of squirrels, judging by his wonderful, white tummy :)

I very lighthearted but simple meditation.

For those who haven’t followed me over the last 1,082 DMs, I love squirrels. My wife and I feed probably 10+ who filter in and out to our property. They’re all “just” regular old grey squirrels, but many get their own names if they have defining features.

To, well…most people, they’re plain ol’ squirrely squirrels.

But, they come with an impressive amount of variation I’ve recorded over the years.

Some have tails that are slightly long. Others are short. There are many whos tails are “bobbed” from fights or injuries. (Interestingly, the tips of their tails pop right off quite easily)

Some come with bright, clean, white tummies (as my wife calls “Lovelies”) and others have a dark, rufous tummy. There are a few who are mixed a bit, where the brown is at the chest, fading into white down nearer the inguinal nipples.

Some have vibrant, equally white “eye liner” around their eyes, while their counterparts have “dark, evil eyes” as I joke.

In winter, some have the usual “rat like” ears, but most grow “ear fluff” covering the entirety of the ear. A few get very long and thick fluff!
