Daily Meditation 770–4/7/2024

It’s that time of year, folks.

Yesterday, my wife and I took our first trip of the year to the Green Bay Botanical Gardens. We’re members (great gift for her for Christmas!) and will head down about once a month to enjoy seeing God’s creation exploding increasingly into life over the summer and into autumn. Additionally, GB has an Ihop (we don’t up here…), so it’s a fun excuse to try their “Pancake of the Month” which we can video for our just-for-fun food channel.

But, there’s something about spring. I don’t know if it’s just us wildery Yoopers up in the UP or what, but each and every spring I can taste it in the air when it’s officially here.

For the uninitiated, the UP of Michigan is here:

Being far, far to the north and ensconced by massive lakes on either side, well…you know we get some winter up yonder.

Every “spring” we get a fake spring and then “second winter.” As you can imagine, us Yoopers abuse the Lord of the Rings’ “Yes, we’ve had one — but what about second breakfast?” memes approximately every April as our mini-heatwave in the 50s F/60s F magically collapses overnight to 0 F and we promptly receive fresh snow up to our waists.

But, usually, after that it thaws (again, practically overnight), you leave your house and…
