Skin Deep, Insults

Insults only should be allowed, at most, to be “skin deep,” as they say.

Here’s the rub:

We choose our reality via our perception.

I know we write about perception in these Daily Meditations probably 4 times a week, but it really is one of the largest “bang for your buck” things we can do to improve our lives.

If we choose a reality where we believe we are victims, believe we are unlucky, believe we are ugly, believe we are poor, believe we are unlovable, believe we have no friends, believe we are under attack…

Then that IS our reality.

We have perceived it into existence whether or not it is, in fact, real.

While one man may perceive $100,000 is a trivial sum…
Another man may perceive that $100,000 as something to change his entire life.

As such, one man may perceive a horrific and racist slur as targeting him, making him to a victim…
The other man may perceive it as laughable, opting to ignore it altogether.

And where do these perceptions begin?

They don’t begin at the verbal assailant or the stack of cash.
The perceptions begin within us.
