She’s so hot
Daily Meditation 871–7/19/2024
Growing up you probably remember as a young man or woman sitting with your friends at a sleepover (or huddled in secret behind the garage poring over a Playboy you dug out of your uncle’s garbage), heart throbbing over some celeb or model, saying to your friends “Ugh, they’re so hot!”
Whether it’s Ryan Reynolds, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, or Timothée Chalamet, we drooled in our adolescent, hormone-addled body, shuddering at the thought of even kissing or being near these various peoples.
Here’s the plot, today:
As you sat with your friends looking through that Esquire of Scarlett Johansson in practically nothing, whispering over and over “Man — she’s so damn hot!” while you hoped your mother wouldn’t find you all, your one or two friends were quiet, unengaged.
Finally, they replied: “Eh, I guess. I don’t really think so. Not for me.”
“Too skinny.”
“Too fat.”
Too much boob. Not enough boob. He’s too short. He’s too chubby. Too much facial hair.
And so on and on.
When our friend — our very closest friend — utters forth their disagreement over our latest “crush,” etc., we perhaps boggle at them a moment and say in reply…
