Self-Love

Daily Meditation #342–2/1/2023

Apologies for formatting shortcomings — I write this via phone on the road.

Nearly daily most of us are rained upon with praises.

“You are so handsome.”

“You’re a very smart young woman!”

It seems the world is full of people who marvel at us, our achievements, and vitality.

And yet, somehow, incredibly, despite all this love delivered to us we cannot believe them and many of us cannot love ourselves.

The world is bursting full of people who appear to appreciate us more than we appreciate ourselves!

The task and lesson today is very simple: pay attention not just to how many comments you receive throughout the day, but take one — just one! — and tell the person “thank you very much.”

Then, take the comment and for just one moment in your mind percieve it to be true, regardless of if you believe it is. See yourself from their eyes, free of your history and gross misperceptions of your self.

You are very, very loved and appreciated.

Take just one encouragement each day to heart and your self-perception can change for the better as you see yourself differently.
