A simple D for today.
Rest is, obviously, important. We work out. We have a career of 40+ hours a week. We’ve got kids (and a spouse). Friends. Books to read. Water to drink. Diets to manage…
Rest is essential!
But, before justifying rest — as we often do…we justify it — make sure you’re actually working hard enough to do so!
We very much live in a society where we almost “glorify” resting too much.
Our ancestors had longer hours, more children, more friends (and dinner parties lol), more responsibilities, and were generally healthier in terms of diets etc.
And yet they rested far, far less.
And their ancestors — also yours! — probably less than that.
Just consider well the rest you’ve already recently taken before deciding on more. Are you tired? We all are. Do you need it? Maybe. Do you have responsibilities you’re possibly putting off in exchange for the rest? You probably shouldn’t.
Just be fair with yourself.
