Pride
Daily Meditation #249–2/8/2023
A short and sweet meditation for today:
Where does your pride end and arrogance begin?
At what point is your pride more than pride and becoming pride, like the Deadly Sin?
We all do a great many wonderful things.
We’ve all got gifts and talents.
And we all do good deeds.
These can often bring us a sense of immense pride!
And they should.
But, at what point is the pride felt from doing a good deed arrogance?
Is it arrogance immediately when we consciously realize what we did was good?
Is it arrogance when we fish for the “thank you?”
How about is it arrogance when we feel miffed for not hearing the “thank you?”
Or, is it when we plaster the good deed on social media — is that when the pride becomes arrogance?
Where do you end and a manifestation of Icarus begins?
I certainly don’t pretend to know or have an answer…
But consider this an invitation to inspect your behaviors around pride to safeguard yourself against that pride becoming…well…
Pride.
