Daily Meditation 654–12/12/2023

A short and sweet Meditation for today!

In an era where more people (and systems) need more help than ever, it would seem sometimes that there is a record amount of selfishness. And this is interesting, as in addition to those people needing more help, we’ve got more time than ever, as well.

Our ancestors often worked 6 or 7 day weeks, often 12 hour shifts. And some of them had farms, as well, but still found time to cook, clean, care for children and home, and be part of their community. Now, we work 40 hours (if that…Although some do work 40+), enjoy faster travel, instant electricity, buy our meat and produce at a store, get our kids publicly educated, and so on, yet insist we “just don’t have time” to volunteer, join committees or boards which will improve our communities and towns and schools. Yet, we “have time” for 4 or 5 “Office” reruns after supper every night or hours of COD…Or 14 minutes of scrolling FaceBook on the toilet (a few times a day!).

This isn’t a scold. Far from it. It’s a call to reperception and reawareness of your time.

We live in a time (an probably place) where we have more time than most of our ancestors ever had, yet we feel like we are always behind. Do a quick time audit one week — just jot down what you did every hour for a week. The hours spent on…
