Obligations

Daily Meditation 614–11/1/2023

Paying our Williams is but one of many obligations in our lives…

Your work schedule says “9am Start,” so you’re there by 9am to punch the clock.

Your wedding vows were explicit — “Til death do us part,” and “through sickness and in health.”

You better pay your bills in timely fashions, or you lose power, water, or are foreclosed on…

Our life is full of obligations.

The biggest, and perhaps most important, to a secular person would of course be to our spouse and children. We show up for them every single day without fail or rest.

Then we are obligated to our bosses, our companies to which we pledge out time in exchange for money.

And of course, we are obligated under debts (hopefully not many…) in exchange for services provided by others — lenders, gas providers, electrical companies…

We readily hand over our time, energy, and resources to others for their benefit.

But, unfortunately, we do not seem fond of obligating to ourselves!

To read each day.
To practice journaling.
To develop skills for betterment, career or otherwise.
To learn languages.
To volunteer or join community groups.
