Nothin’ Changes

Daily Meditation 975–11/3/2024

There’s an old expression “Nothing changes if nothing changes.”

A lot of people don’t like to be on the receiving end of such a saying as it, well…kind of is not what you want to hear.

If you’re overweight, it implies you’re stuck with a bad diet and poor fitness.

If you’re struggling to get a good relationship, it implies you need to change in some way.

If you’re having finance problems, it implies your money issues are your fault.

We don’t like “nothing changes if nothing changes” as it puts focus and the onus on us that we need to make changes to the self to correct whatever deficit may exist.

But it’s functionally true.

If we are falling short in some way over some thing, the only option we have is the self-change.

We cannot change others, only the self. Ergo, if we find ourselves “wanting” for something, usually it’s best to reflect and see what about the self is in our power to change.

If we WANT change, then WE must change.
