Life’s tough. There are other more “flavorful” expressions about life with more exciting words, but yes — life is very difficult.
Here’s the thing, though; adversity makes us better. It makes us stronger. Being the victim of something — and opting to embrace victimhood — does not help us.
But, when we accept the yoke of difficulty, we get better.
Just look at the body:
You go to the gym, you strain under tens of thousands of pounds each day, fighting them with your muscles, sweating and swearing. Over time, this adversity makes you literally stronger.
You catch a cold or the flu — you get physically weak. You vomit, you get a fever, you sweat, you sleep fitfully. But this adversity makes your immune system literally stronger.
So too it goes with all other adversity in our lives, if we accept the mantle of that adversity!
Our suffering is right here, in our faces each day. Sick and dying family. Hunger. Lost jobs. Cheating spouses. Difficult bosses…
And instead of accepting the suffering, we opt to not focus on it.
We masturbate. We game all day. We smoke cigarettes. We smoke weed. We pop pills. We drink 12 packs of beer. We hook up on…
