Daily Meditation 782 — 4/19/2024

Anyone who’s ever had cats knows they’re very interesting creatures. They’re quirky and idiosyncratic — a lot like people! — which is why I’ve, personally, always loved them.

Cats supposedly don’t vocalize much with one another, and apparently developed meowing to communicate with us poor servants of theirs. Well, according to the last articles on cats that I read.

But, feline to feline, they tend towards body language with eyes, tails, teeth, ears, and of course…their arching backs (and claws…)

And they will utilize all of these in communication with us hapless humans, as well.

One cat-communication you may not know about is the way they (supposedly) say “I love you!” They apparently communicate this with a relaxed and calm disposition and then direct eye-contact with a slow, drawn out blink. Almost like the sort of eye movement you may do when taking a deep breath during meditation.

Apparently, they do this to direct their furry little “I love yous” to us (and each other). I actually do it back to Jack, our cat, who will rebound it back and forth with me a few times. It’s cute and kind of funny.
