If you say you’re gonna do something, then…
Daily Meditation 989–11/19/2024
A simple message:
If you say you’re going to do something, you’re “pledged” to do it, then do it!
Whether it’s marriage and loyalty to your spouse or getting into shape or going to church, do the thing you have said you’re going to do.
For instance — I vowed to write these DMs every single day. The last two days, well…I was traveling by car all day. So, I wrote them in advance and set ’em to auto-publish.
Allow yourself no excuses to your pledges in life.
Excuses are addictive in nature and once you’ve allowed yourself one excuse, then you will find it easy to tack on the second.
There is an expression about alcohol among alcoholics:
One drink is too many, and 100 are never enough.
Excuses are the exact same.
Just as the alcoholic (like myself) understands just ONE drink means relapse back to swirling their drain, leading to the next 99 drinks, so too do excuses follow the same pattern.
You hit the gym 5 days a week and eat very well? “One day off and a donut is okay,” you may say…but then it becomes a bowl of Ramen and ice cream as well. Then you don’t feel good the next day, so you take another day off.
And so on.
In closing — if you say you’ll do X Y or Z, then do it!
