“I Deserve…”

Daily Meditation #213–9/23/2022

We feel we deserve a great many things. But what do we truly deserve? What are we entitled to?

You must deserve that which you desire.

You want a raise and promotion.
Do you deserve them?

You want a beautiful, intelligent spouse.
Do you deserve one?

You want a great, lean physique.
Do you deserve it?

You are entitled to nothing.

You are not entitled to more money or power.
You are not entitled to a spouse, let alone one at the top of any hierarchy — beauty, intellect or otherwise.
You are not entitled to a great body.

All of these must be deserved and to deserve anything, one must align their behaviors with a path moving in that direction and be consistent in execution.

Can you lower the bar?

Sure.

Should you?
Only if you don’t feel lowering the bar will not cost sacrificing part of your ethics, beliefs or your “soul.”

You are entitled to nothing.
And as such, bearing that in mind, when you attain something — wealth, power, fame, love or attention, great health, or a sense of peace — be sure to stop and overflow with gratitude, often and out loud.

You must deserve that which you desire.
