Daily Meditation 942–9/30/2024

A short meditation today in light of the massive outage!

If you’re a Yank, you know that today the big news is the tremendous Verizon outage hitting our nation. It’s affecting users across our country. Interestingly, in my household I have no service, but my wife does.

I am sure many of us are frantically checking our phones for the renewal of service, greatly inconvenienced. In my career, I really need to make frequent calls and texts, so part of it is a sort of “dread” for that renewal as who knows how many messages will be permanently lost or needing to be caught up on!

However, this outage also is in some sense a momentary breath of fresh air — of freedom.

There is something refreshing to all of us about the ability to step out of the washing waves of WiFi to have a walk knowing we’ll get zero notifications and be unbothered.

We should take note of how we feel, today, as we get poked and prodded far less. Take note and consider “Hey, maybe I can turn my phone to airplane mode for one hour each morning,” etc., to intentionally free ourselves from our digital ball-and-chain device.

That’s all.

A simple reframe of the current “Crisis Du Jour!”

Enjoy the momentary freedom, America.
