Daily Meditation 856–7/4/2024

A short Meditation today so I can get back to grilling, waving the flag in my red-white-blue loincloth, singing “Proud to Be An American” on repeat, and blowing fingers off with fireworks!

We write about the importance of Death Meditating every day. Thinking deeply on our fragile mortality. How any single breath may be our last as an aneurysm, but samely how we may live to 90, dying surrounded by loving family.

We write about the importance of Gratitude Meditating every day. Thinking often about all the many small things we are so grateful for — instant, hot, clean water…electricity at a switch flick 99.9999% of the time…grocery store goods…the ability to sleep safely each night.

Another thing we should occasionally meditate upon is freedom and what it is. And, like with gratitude, it usually is best served to think about what a lack would be like. What would a lack of your existing freedoms look like?

What if you needed permission to use your instant, clean, hot water?
What if you needed permission from police to go online to state your opinion about something?
What if you needed permission to steam your carrots instead of roast them?
What if you needed permission to play video games?
What if you needed permission to go visit your elderly parent in their home?
