We have given “failure” such a bad name over the years.

Losing a friendly game of basketball turns into bitter anger.
Salesmen go from coworkers to unhealthy competitors.
We are rejected by those we are attracted to…

But, in reality, isn’t failure in many ways a blessing?

The thing about failure— missing the promotion, the courtship rejection, the “C+” in biology — is that it actually moves us nearer to our goals.

The loss in basketball? It becomes a chance to improve the strengths and practice explicit weaknesses.

The sales you lost to the other salesperson? An opportunity to ask how they did it differently.

The flat rejection from the “hottie?” An invitation to go to the gym, to attend to our grooming, to manage our mannerism (and so much more.)

The missed promotion? Depending on the circumstance, maybe it’s a chance to become the best in your current roles or to polish a new resume.

C+ in Bio? Great opportunity to find or create a study group and take it from your weakness to strength.

But, there’s a common element to all of these failures:
