Daily Meditation #144 — 7/16/2022

You can “Be AnYtHiNg” and you choose to be CEO — Chief Excuses Officer

People either do great things or will have incredible stories explaining why they didn’t do great things.

These stories are better known as “excuses.”

“Well, ah, gee — I’d like to get up earlier but I’m just not a morning person.”
Excuse. You don’t need to be a morning person today. Become one.

“I’m not really computer savvy, so I’ll never start up that website I want.”
Excuse. If it’s truly important to you, get to work becoming “computer savvy.”

Here’s the rub.

You tell your children they can grow up to be anything they want.

You plaster your social media with masturbatory and flowery platitudes like “Be the change you want to see in the world!” and “Never give up! You can be anything you want!”

And yet, here you are making excuses why you cannot do X, Y, or Z.

Excuses why we won’t get out of bed.
Excuses why we don’t read more.
Excuses why we can’t save more money.
Excuses why we don’t have time for a coffee with someone.

Either quit vomiting empty platitudes into the universe or alter your behavior to better align with your aspirations.

Follow for daily philosophical meditations.
