Daily Meditation 647–12/5/2023

This is a nightmare scenario for many…

Certainly not every reader, here, will jump at the insights today.

Life is short. You know that old, tired phrase. But think about it a minute. When you’re a child, certainly, your every day feels like a lifetime. You’re aching to drive. Aching for privacy. Aching to move out. Aching to lose your virginity, perhaps. Aching for independence from your parents. Every single year up to your twenties probably feels like an invasive, grinding, sluggardly decade which toils on and on and never passes…

But then, you move out. All at once, you’re swept away in total freedom. Before you know it, you find a great SO. You’re going on dates. Going out to bars. Getting injuries or surgeries. Gaining weight. Working 9–5s. Having babies. Moving all over kingdom come.
Suddenly, you’re 25. Then 30! 35, 40, 50…Every year quite literally becomes a smaller and smaller fraction of your lifetime.

So, yes — life is very, very short. And this is part of our Death Meditations! To be mindful of mortality and the abruptness of our decades…

The message today?

Get embarrassed more.

You might be stammering and grumbling something out along the lines of “why I never! I-I-I…I don’t have to tolerate this…” but embarrassment is…
