Daily Meditation 1,054–1/23/2025

Today I had the immense pleasure of cleaning out my ancient Hotmail account. So, this meditation is a reflection of my own growth — as so many DMs are!

Well, a while ago, Hotmail (outlook) made a decision to charge people a fee for storage space of emails past a certain point. But, when you’ve had the same email address for literally more than 20 years, you tend to have an incredible accumulation.

I’ve got old emails from my mother in the 00s. Videos from MySpace (which I discovered today won’t load, sadly). And I even found writings of mine from 2007.

I’m super duper glad I didn’t blanket wipe my email, but instead went through by hand, hunting and pecking for the fattest wastes.

And at first, I was sighing and groaning and moaning and whining.

Here’s what I had to remind myself when I managed to be self-aware enough to CATCH myself complaining:

It’s not so much that I HAVE to do things like cooking, cleaning, purging emails, or going to a job…

It’s that I GET TO.

So I tell myself “Don’t. Just don’t complain.”

Here’s the rub: we GET to do these things and they’re made better when we frame it ancestrally.
