Daily Meditation 554–9/2/2023

I’m a Realtor by trade, even though my heart is in writing (as you probably have guessed from 554 consecutive days of, well, writing these + fantasy, etc).

My career has two annual events each year:

The 4th of July Parade.
The local County Fair.

Each year at the fair, our company has a booth inside the commercial building — only large enough for maybe 20 or so vendors — and every year, we are stationed across from the Democrat booth.

Before readers sigh, cross their arms or begin to prepare remarks, let me disclose:

I am a Libertarian and have been for some time. I dislike Trump. I dislike Biden. I want both of them to step aside, and some other candidate to win — and for that candidate to pardon them both so we can all just move away from the past and focus on the now and the future.

Each year as I sit across from the Democrats, I experience an interesting moment of self-awareness.

First, I feel a sort of “smug” feeling. My mind starts to judge them on the incredibly little I know about their appearances, their mannerisms, or how they act.

Second, in my mind, I shake my head and think to myself “How can these people believe XYZ of their party, their leaders, or their…
