Death Meditation VI
Daily Meditation #106–6/8/2022
We are all part of a greater machine whose size nor capabilities are within understanding nor measurement.
We are but one cog, a spring, or a shaft out of tens of billions of moving parts, all relating in their movement…
All moving both because of the rest and to affect the rest.
Our forms are cast from a great forge beyond our comprehension made of materials of soul and atoms, combining exactly as intended.
One day, when our gear-teeth break and we no longer fit in with the other gears or we are stripped or our springiness has become too elastic, our forms are lovingly plucked from the machine and restored to the primordial components.
Do not lament your place in the infinite and beautiful machinery of life.
All men — those who are great, those impossibly poor, and those unimaginably powerful — are only but tiny pieces, and all reclaimed to the boiling vat in the forges of life and death.
Death is inevitable.
Embrace death in life, or suffer in life fearing death.
Follow for daily philosophical meditations.
These are distillations from my coming book “YouDaimonia: the Ancient Philosophy of Human Flourishing.”
