Content, Content, Content

Daily Meditation #442–5/13/2023

Stuff and things (including digital things) are burdens.

I don’t mean “CONtent,” I mean “content,” as in a state of satisfaction and peace of mind.

Your life is not overmuch improved by owning more CONtents — fancy cars, big TVs, new video games, Gucci or LV purses, or more and more shoes.

Your life is at its best when, instead, you are content with that which you already have.

You have clean water at the turn of a knob.
And, depending which knob, it’s very hot nearly instantly.
You flick a switch and have electricity 100% of the time.
You turn a key and your car starts (to say nothing of the privilege of transportation, period).
You go to a store and have access to food you didn’t have to grow.
You didn’t need to marry and have 10+ children to tend to your farm.
You have access to a hospital with the best technologies on the face of the Earth.
You live in a society where no one has forced you to believe in anything you don’t wish to believe in.

You already have a great life if you stop wanting for that which you lack and instead are grateful for that which you have.

So, seek contentment, and stop chasing adding more CONtents to your life.
