Changing of the Seasons
Daily Meditation 945–10/4/2024
Yesterday, my wife and I made a “Color drive” far to the north to witness the changing of the leaves.
In some counties, the trees are 50% barren and 50% a royal, lush mix of burgundies, crimsons, oranges, golds, greens, and cinnamon.
In other counties, they’re yet mostly emerald.
What a gorgeous pallet of colors nature uses!
But also what a beautiful message for us all to take in.
We all go through our own seasons in life just as nature does.
Some of us age and gray and stoop and wrinkle up early and harshly, yet we’re still smiling.
Others stay smooth, upright, firmed and colored well into their twilight years, yet they’re sour and dour.
We will all entire the autumns and winters of our lives — like the maples and tamaracks and aspens, it is inevitable that we wither and die…And we should accept it.
Accept the wrinkles. The greys. The crow’s feet. The weakening.
You can still exercise, eat well, and certainly be responsible with cremes and lotions! But be accepting of your mortality…of the seasons of life.
In closing — always heed nature. Enjoy it, respect it, love it…but hear what it whispers, as it usually has wisdom to impart upon us.
