Daily Meditation 630 – 11/18/2023

There are some bullies in the world. But most bad interactions with others don’t come from hatred of our gayness, blackness, religion, weight, height, hair color, etc etc etc…

Not everyone in our world is a good person. Nor will some people ever be good. I’m of the belief that there are genuinely “Satanic” individuals who regardless of how their lives began or turned out they would’ve become bad.

There simply are bad people in the world who will treat everyone badly, no matter how rich they are, how loved they are, how much sex they get, how much power they have, or how many cars they own. They will always be bad people.

But, on the converse, nearly all of us have bad days where we, unfortunately, mistreat others. We woke up in pain. We discovered our spouse sleeping with our friend. We were laughed at and denied a raise by our boss.

These are, of course, excuses for this mistreatment and we ought to never be “nasty” to others. We should (obviously) hold doors, be polite, ask others if they need a hand, and smile at them…
But some days, I get it. It’s hard to be glad in your own shoes, let alone keep our mouths shut from uttering discouragement.

Some people are plainly evil.
But all of us have the capability to be an asshole.

Here’s the secret for us to take to heart, however:

Nearly every “slight” against us isn’t personal.
It’s almost never some utterance…
