Part I is here

Just the other day we wrote Part I of this new mini-series. It was about getting started investing as a bit of advice for young people.

Youth have so many advantages over us “boomers” (I’m 36, so we’re clear lol).

They have time (probably).
They are free of addictions (likely).
They can still mold their futures (if they listen).

Today’s is about the middle one. Addictions.

A major addiction — perhaps the biggest in the world? — is caffeine.

When you wake up in the morning — at 5am, 7am, 9am, or even 8pm for overnights — what’s the first thing you do? You flip on that coffee machine and get it brewing! It churns and spews out that delicious hot bean juice while you eagerly wait and smell the scent wafting around you.

“Oh, God — thank you, that’s good” is the common nigh-sexual sigh I let from my lips at about 4:30am as I take my first sip. Just a splash of heavy cream, just a splash of milk, thankyouverymuch.

But here’s the lesson for y’all young adults (and really, for everyone!):

You aren’t tired…You don’t need the coffee or caffeine…
