moA Pinch, A Handful

I write about this subject pretty often, but it’s always a wonderful reminder as we are all working on various projects or goals our whole lives.
And with that, we are always worrying about inspiration, motivation, and perfection — the three greatest stumbling blocks in creation.

So, here’s your sign:

You just need a little bit today — and every day — in order to do what you’re trying to do.

A painting is 10,000 strokes.
A book is 100,000 words.
A marathon will take you 1,000 miles of prep.
A promotion will be 250 hours of excellent work.
And so on.

When you’re making bread, just a PINCH of yeast leavens the entire loaf.

And so too will a pinch of work every day build up momentum for you in your endeavors.

No motivation? Don’t wait for it — motivation is like waiting for a unicorn to appear…it won’t.

So, go do 5 brushstrokes.
Write 100 words.
Jog 1 mile.
Try to get ONE serious hour of top-shelf quality work done.

You’ll nearly never hit perfection. Striving for it will mean you’re never done.
You’ll nearly never find motivation or inspiration, either.

So, you pick up your tools and you just pour out SOMETHING.

And remember the pinch of yeast is all it takes…
