Daily Meditation 884–8/1/2024

A short Meditation for today.

A little is actually a lot when it comes to improvement of the self.

To eat 25 fewer calories this week than last week…and then a further 25 fewer next.

To take 10 more steps today than yesterday…and then 10 more tomorrow.

To write 10 extra words in your novel today…then 20 tomorrow.

To not buy something unnecessary today…and then again tomorrow.

To play 5 fewer minutes of games today…then an additional 5 fewer per day next week.

To put $5 into your Roth + investing accounts this week…then $5 more next week.

To go to bed 1 minute earlier today…then another minute tomorrow.

To get up 1 minute earlier tomorrow…then another minute the day after.

We so often forget how cumulative gains can become exponential. In weightlifting, we call it “progressive overload,” where you continually — very slowly! — add more weight every time you attempt a given lift.

If last week squatting you could do 225, then this week you might try 230. Then the next week, 235. You do this until you hit a definite plateau then revisit your strategy, perhaps reducing weight but adding reps for a month. Maybe…
